The escalating political crisis and growing unrest inside Venezuela foreshadow a continued exodus of Venezuelans – and with it, the deepening of the worst regional humanitarian crisis in the Western Hemisphere.
The UN estimates there will be 5.3 million Venezuelan refugees by the end of 2019, rivalling the scale of the Syrian refugee crisis. Four out of every ten people still in Venezuela want to leave.
We are on the border responding to the needs of families who’ve fled into Colombia, helping them access food, shelter, clean water, hygiene supplies and other urgently needed support. But amid political deadlock and ongoing humanitarian crises, Venezuela is poorly placed to withstand the new and devastating impact of coronavirus, with refugees especially at risk due to cramped and unsanitary living conditions.
We are currently responding to urgent humanitarian needs in more than 40 countries around the globe. Give now to help our teams respond around the world and provide a lifeline for people during their most desperate time of need.
With your donation you can help people triumph over adversity and build stronger communities from within, now, and for years to come.
