Mercy Corps Launches New 10-Year Strategy

Mercy Corps’ “Pathway to Possibility” will guide the global organization’s efforts to support communities – and the most marginalized within them – to emerge from crisis and build towards a more inclusive, resilient future

The global humanitarian and development organization Mercy Corps today introduced its new 10-year organizational strategy: Pathway to Possibility. It aligns programming, internal processes, and decision making to best support communities at the forefront of the climate crisis and conflict in 40+ countries around the globe where Mercy Corps works.

Over the next decade, Mercy Corps will work toward four community-level outcomes: ensuring greater food and water security, economic opportunity, and peace and good governance. Through our programs, partnerships, and influence, we support communities to cope, adapt, and ultimately thrive in the face of conflict and climate change. All systems and processes will also help the organization meet its five core commitments: climate smart, evidence-driven, innovative & creative, locally led, and safe, diverse & inclusive.

Our new strategy underscores the importance of centering communities in everything we do,” says Tjada D’Oyen McKenna, Chief Executive Officer of Mercy Corps. “Over the next decade, we will partner with and aim to improve the lives of those who are systemically marginalized because of their gender, age, ethnic, religious, or other identity, those living in or at risk of extreme poverty, and those most affected by climate, conflict, and other compounding threats,”
